A Nigerian man was subjected to a public punishment by a soldier for wearing military camouflage when he was spotted mopping the exterior of a shopping mall in heavy rainfall. The incident was captured and shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a video that quickly went viral.
In the footage, the man is seen diligently scrubbing the wet floor outside the shopping complex while the soldier observes him closely. Onlookers from both the upper and lower floors of the mall can be seen watching the unusual scene unfold. The soldier, as per reports, ordered the man to mop the entire area as a penalty for wearing military attire, which is considered inappropriate for civilians in some parts of Nigeria.
The individual who shared the video captioned it, explaining that the man was also wearing a soldier's cap when he was confronted by the soldier, who demanded that he clean the mall’s exterior. The caption read: “He wore a soldier’s cap, and the soldier told him to mop the whole complex in the rain.”
