A young Nigerian man has taken to social media to share a heartbreaking chat with his ex-girlfriend, who dumped him after he refused to engage in internet fraud, commonly known as ‘Yahoo.’
The man, identified as @MarkissLulu on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that his ex-girlfriend left him because he wasn’t making enough money to meet her financial expectations.
According to MarkissLulu, the two had a heated argument about finances earlier this year, which ultimately led to the end of their relationship.
In the chat he shared, his then-girlfriend expressed her frustration over his financial struggles and criticized him for not engaging in fraudulent activities like other men who, in her words, "know how to make fast money."
During their conversation, she broke-shamed him, insisting that his refusal to do ‘Yahoo’ was the reason he couldn't afford to take care of her needs. She argued that real men go the extra mile to make money and provide for their women.
The post has since gone viral, sparking debates about relationships, financial expectations, and the pressure on young men to engage in fraudulent activities to maintain their love lives.
Expressing his emotions, MarkissLulu admitted that he still feels insecure and struggles to move past the conversation. His post read:
“I don’t know if I was wrong, if I was truly insecure, but I can’t get over this conversation with my ex earlier this year.
I pray God comes through for me and heals me. 🙏🏻”
