A young man has been left devastated after his fiancée deliberately destroyed his international passport and other travel documents just days before his scheduled departure abroad.
The heartbroken man, seeking legal advice and public opinions, shared his ordeal with barrister Atanda Olatunji, who later posted the story on Facebook to gather reactions and possible solutions.
According to the anonymous man, his fiancée showed no remorse for her actions, claiming that she did it out of fear that he was planning to abandon her after five years of being in a relationship.
The woman allegedly accused him of intending to leave her behind despite his reassurances that he would make arrangements for her to join him later and that they would get married overseas.
In his desperate appeal to Barrister Atanda, the man narrated how he returned home only to find his passport and other crucial documents shredded beyond repair.
He explained that his fiancée had previously threatened him, insisting that she would not allow him to leave without her. Despite his repeated explanations and efforts to calm her down, she refused to believe him and went ahead with the act of destruction.
Sharing his frustration, the man wrote:
“I got back home yesterday only to discover that my fiancée has destroyed my international passport and other travel documents. “Atanda, this girl has been threatening me that I can’t leave her and travel abroad without taking her along.
“She is accusing me of trying to abandon her after five years of dating. “I have explained multiple times that I will work out a way for her to join me there and that we would get married abroad. But she doesn’t believe me.”
He further lamented that his flight was scheduled for Thursday, and now, with his documents in ruins, he faces an uncertain future. He added that his fiancée did not even flee after the act but rather stood her ground, insisting that he would not be able to do anything about it.
In a desperate plea for legal intervention, the distraught man asked Barrister Atanda for guidance on taking legal action against his fiancée.
He continued: “Atanda, my flight is on Thursday, and she just destroyed my international passport and other travel documents. “She is standing her ground and showing no regret. “Atanda, I don’t want to touch her so I won’t harm someone, but I need to do something.”
“Please, Atanda, just tell me all the legal ways I can go through to get her jailed. “She must pay dearly for this. “I need a response before I go out of control.”
His story has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many expressing sympathy for him while others debated the legal consequences of his fiancée’s actions.
