The Federal Government has officially declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, as public holidays in commemoration of the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, March 26, by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on behalf of the government.

In his message, the minister extended warm greetings to all Muslim faithful across the country and congratulated them on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan, which is a period dedicated to fasting, prayers, and spiritual reflection.

Tunji-Ojo urged the Muslim community to continue upholding the core values instilled during Ramadan, including self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace, as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.

He further emphasized the importance of love, forgiveness, and unity in fostering a more harmonious and prosperous society. According to him, Nigeria can achieve greater stability and development when its citizens embrace these values in their daily lives.

Additionally, the minister called on Nigerians of all religious backgrounds to use the festive occasion to pray for the peace, stability, and progress of the nation.

In a separate statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, citizens were reminded that the Eid celebration should be a time of gratitude, reflection, and national cohesion. She encouraged everyone to extend kindness and generosity to the less privileged in society, as exemplified during Ramadan.

The Federal Government also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring national security and development while urging Nigerians to remain law-abiding and supportive of efforts to build a stronger and more prosperous nation.
