BBNaija reality star Tacha Akide has voiced her displeasure regarding the attitude of some Nigerians residing in the UK. The media personality took to her social media platform to express frustration over being recorded in public without being greeted, which she considers impolite and disrespectful.
Tacha, who has recently relocated to the UK, shared her sentiments via her Instagram story, highlighting her culture shock and disappointment at how some Nigerians in the diaspora interact with her.
According to her, throughout the day, she encountered multiple Nigerians, yet none of them extended a simple greeting. Instead, they opted to take out their phones and record her, an act she found distasteful and lacking in courtesy.
Expressing her displeasure, she stated: "You guys will not believe how many Nigerians I saw today. It was wonderful seeing my fellow countrymen, but what shocked me was that none of them greeted me. They saw me, recognized me, but instead of saying 'Hi,' they just pulled out their phones to record. It was so disappointing."
She continued, "I lost count of how many white people stopped to say I looked beautiful today. The Nigerians I saw, however, only had one thing in mind—recording me. Listen, I am not begging for a greeting, but if you can’t even say 'Hi,' then please don’t record me. It’s just basic respect!"
Her comments have since sparked a wave of reactions on social media. Some users ridiculed her remarks, suggesting she was exaggerating her importance, while others resonated with her frustration, agreeing that proper social etiquette should be upheld.
A social media user, @bukidow, commented: "For abroad wey we no send some A-list celebrities sef 😂."
Another user, @memetush, added: "BEST AT RANTING. Your supposed celebrity status didn’t follow you there. It stayed back in Nigeria."
Despite the mixed reactions, Tacha remains firm in her stance, urging her fellow Nigerians in the UK to embrace common courtesy and show more respect in their interactions with public figures.
