The controversy surrounding Raye began when she openly criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on social media over the economic hardship affecting Nigerians.

According to reports, Raye claimed that shortly after her public remarks, NYSC officials began issuing threats against her. She was subsequently summoned to appear before her Local Government Inspector (LGI) in Lagos on Monday, March 17.

In response to the situation, Reno Omokri took to his page to insist that the corps member should face disciplinary measures for breaching NYSC regulations. He maintained that the scheme should enforce its rules without bias or political sentiments.

Omokri further supported his argument by citing the example of Nigerian music star Davido, who was penalized by the NYSC during President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for violating the organization’s regulations.

On his page, Omokri wrote:

“This is not about politics or ethnicity. Under President Buhari, the NYSC disciplined music star Davido for flouting its rule. The people of the Southwest did not accuse the NYSC of tribalism, and the PDP did not accuse President Buhari of witch-hunting an opposition politician. There must be a rule of law in Nigeria rather than rule by sentiments.”
