Reno Omokri, [/b]a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has made a strong declaration against the supporters of Nigerian politician, Peter Obi, known as the Obidient Movement. He vowed to destroy the movement, citing personal reasons and his past involvement in Peter Obi’s political rise.
Omokri made this revelation during an interview with News Central on Thursday, March 27, 2025, where he explained his deep connection to Peter Obi’s political journey and the reasons behind his current stance.
According to Omokri, he played a significant role in Obi’s political advancement, particularly in the 2019 general elections when he allegedly proposed the idea of Obi becoming the running mate to Atiku Abubakar. He insisted that he has documents to support his claims and that he was instrumental in shaping Peter Obi’s political journey.
However, Omokri stated that despite his contributions, some members of the Obidient Movement began attacking him, blackmailing him, and threatening his life. While he initially tolerated their insults and threats, he claimed that the situation escalated when they began targeting his family, particularly his wife and son.
He recounted disturbing experiences, including instances where he received multiple death threats, was trailed by unknown individuals, and even had his family members harassed. He further alleged that members of the movement followed him while jogging, learned his routes, and attempted to intimidate him in public.
Omokri said: “I took a vow to destroy that movement because Peter Obi was a project of mine. I was responsible for Peter Obi becoming the running mate to Waziri Atiku Abubakar in 2019. I’ve said this publicly. I’ve got the documents. I’m a meticulous record keeper.”
He continued: “Peter Obi’s movement, Obidients, started attacking me, threatening me, and insulting me. That was OK. But then they moved from myself to my family. I just had a daughter at that time. There were multiple death threats.”
He also added: “They came to my house in the United Kingdom. They trailed my wife and me when we were jogging. They found out my jogging route and pursued me, threatening me.”
Omokri’s statements have since sparked intense debates on social media, with many people sharing their views on the ongoing rift between him and the Obidient Movement.
