A Nigerian social media troll has sparked widespread outrage following his insensitive remarks about the personal lives of billionaire daughters, Temi Otedola and DJ Cuppy, leading to heated discussions across various platforms.
The controversy began when a user identified as @Fortunatebackup made a now-deleted tweet comparing Temi’s parental status and DJ Cuppy’s relationship situation, implying that despite their wealth and status, both women faced personal struggles.
In his post, he wrote, “Two billionaire pikin, one no see husband marry. The one wey see husband marry no see pikin born.”

The tweet quickly went viral, garnering over two million impressions within hours. However, it also attracted significant backlash, with many social media users condemning the comment as insensitive, rude, and uncalled for.
Following the wave of criticism, @Fortunatebackup returned to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a public apology, expressing regret over his earlier statement and acknowledging the harm it caused.
In his apology, he wrote, “I’m sorry for my previous tweet about DJ Cuppy and Temi Otedola. I didn’t mean to hurt or offend anyone honestly. My words were thoughtless, and I regret them. I’ve deleted the tweet and going forward, I will be more careful with what I say now and in the future.”
Despite his apology, reactions remained mixed. While some users accepted his statement and urged others to move on, many continued to criticize him for making such a remark in the first place, emphasizing the need for sensitivity and caution when discussing people’s personal lives.
One social media user, @ChiomaOgbuigwe, strongly condemned the initial tweet, saying, “Na so una go Dey type rubbish Dey go, I hope a legal action is taken so that other people can learn from this, una no Dey hear. That tweet is all over TikTok.”
Meanwhile, another user, @LagosPresidentt, had a different opinion, downplaying the controversy. He wrote, “I don’t know why they are overreacting to the post, it’s not even that deep. Someone stated the obvious, and all of a sudden everyone got upset. No like he directly mocked them or something. Y’all will be fine tho.”
The incident has reignited conversations about online behavior, cyberbullying, and the responsibility of social media users to exercise restraint and respect when discussing people’s private lives, particularly those in the public eye.
