In a deeply emotional and reflective video that has now gone viral, Okoli poured out her heart about the internal struggles she faced while living abroad. She explained that the decision to relocate was not spontaneous, but rather the result of long nights of soul-searching and sincere evaluation of life’s true essence.

Her story arrives at a time when thousands of Nigerians continue to dream of "japa" — seeking greener pastures abroad. However, Okoli’s move challenges that narrative, prompting both admiration and debate among viewers who are rethinking the definition of success and fulfillment.

“Everyone is asking me, ‘Why did you leave America? Are you okay? You want to suffer in Nigeria?’” she said in the now-viral video, expressing her frustration with the common perception that living abroad automatically equates to happiness.

“But I hope you guys know that money is not everything — at least, to some people. At least, to me,” she added passionately, calling attention to the emotional and psychological cost that often accompanies the hustle for wealth overseas.

Okoli emphasized that financial achievements, especially in foreign lands, can come at a steep price — including isolation, stress, and the erosion of family ties. She noted that she personally values peace of mind, presence, and connectedness more than the material gains that her U.S. nursing job offered.

“Someone can make ₦100 but be miserable — insulted at work, restless, disconnected from life. Then another person makes just ₦50, but they are happy, they spend quality time with their family, they sleep well, they enjoy peace of mind. For me, it’s about quality of life,” she said, delivering what many have called a powerful reality check.

She further criticized the way mass migration has fragmented African families, leaving siblings and loved ones scattered across continents, unable to reunite for years — all in the name of chasing economic opportunities.

“Look at what the Western world is doing to us. Families are scattered. One child is in Germany, another in Canada, another in Dubai. Six siblings haven’t seen each other in three years — all in the name of seeking a better life, but forgetting about the quality of life,” she lamented.

Her courageous decision and raw honesty have inspired thousands of Nigerians to reassess their own life choices, with many applauding her for choosing what truly matters to her: inner peace, family, and emotional freedom.
