The tragic passing of Nkechi Nweje has left an irreparable void in the Nollywood industry, with colleagues and fans mourning her loss. Many have expressed their condolences and shared heartfelt tributes in honor of the late actress.

In a recent post on Instagram, Ngozi Ezeonu paid tribute to Nkechi Nweje, expressing her shock and sadness over her passing. She revealed that she had no prior knowledge of Nkechi Nweje’s illness before her death.

In her emotional post, she wrote:

“It is so difficult to believe you are gone, ezigbo nwanyi Onicha.”

“I never knew you were ill. So I will never see your ever-smiling face again. Nkechi, you were one of the nicest people I met in Nollywood. This is indeed a big blow. GO WELL, MY BEAUTIFUL SISTER.”

However, her tribute did not sit well with some social media users, who criticized her for being unaware of her colleague’s illness. Many questioned whether Nollywood actors genuinely care for one another beyond professional interactions.

See some reactions below…

Amaka Justina remarked, “There’s no love 💕 anywhere oooo, and Nollywood claims they have a president of the Actors Guild, yet some of them don’t even check up on their fellow actors and actresses. Hmmmm, this is an exhausting situation.”

Nwaku Chigbo wrote, “Such a painful death. Some others, at least people knew about their sicknesses, but this one—no sound in the air. RIP to you, madam.”

Lawrence Chris stated, “You never knew she was ill? It shows you were not close to her or weren’t checking on her regularly.”

Ikechukwu added, “You never knew, meaning you didn’t really care. Fake love everywhere. What I have come to realize is that there is no real love between them in Nollywood.”

Nneka Modesta queried, “So you guys don’t check up on each other? RIP to the dead.”

Many social media users continued to debate the issue, with some defending Ngozi Ezeonu while others insisted that actors should do better in supporting one another beyond work relationships.
