Nollywood actress, Lizzy Anjorin [/b]has broken her silence on the controversy surrounding Gospel singer Tope Alabi’s refusal to perform at her surprise birthday party. The incident had attracted significant attention after it was reported that Tope Alabi had been paid ₦3.5 million for the performance but chose not to participate.
In response to the backlash, Lizzy Anjorin addressed the situation in a video shared online, where she explained her perspective on the matter. She clarified that she is a Muslim and did not expect her fans to invite a gospel singer to perform at her birthday celebration, suggesting that they should have invited an Islamic singer who is a fan of hers instead.
“I’m a Muslim and I didn’t expect my fans to invite a gospel singer to my birthday. They should have invited an Islamic singer who is my fan,” Lizzy Anjorin explained in the video.
Furthermore, Lizzy Anjorin stated that she had no plans to invite Tope Alabi to perform at her event, emphasizing that she could easily access the artist’s songs from her albums. In a show of gratitude, Lizzy also mentioned that she was unaware of why Tope Alabi had declined to perform for her despite being paid in advance for the performance.
She expressed that the money paid to Tope Alabi could have been better used for charitable purposes, citing the recent tragic incident of a pregnant woman who died due to her husband's inability to afford hospital bills. Lizzy stressed, “I already warned my fans to stop wasting money. I thank God I’m alive and healthy for my birthday. I don’t know why she refused to come down from the car.”
