Afrobeat superstar Davido has made a surprising revelation about his collaboration with U.S. rapper Nicki Minaj, disclosing that despite working together on two songs, they have never met in person.
During an interview on an episode of the Bootleg Kev podcast, Davido discussed his experience collaborating with Nicki Minaj and how their professional relationship started.

The Nigerian singer explained that he first noticed Nicki Minaj was following him on Instagram, which led him to send her a direct message. To his surprise, she responded positively, and their collaboration quickly took shape.
“You know the crazy thing? I have never met her [Nicki Minaj]. It’s crazy. We speak on the phone all the time. The first time we linked was through DM,” Davido said.
“I noticed that she was following me, and I texted her. I woke up the next morning and saw her reply. I was shocked. I told her I had a song for us, and she said she was interested. I think it was 2019 or 2020. I sent her the record, and two days later, she sent me her verse.”
He further elaborated that plans were made to shoot a music video in Los Angeles, but due to Nicki Minaj’s pregnancy at the time, it could not happen.
“We went to L.A. to shoot the video, but it didn’t work out because she was having her baby at that time. But we’ve always been close since then. She hit me again with the record last year for Pink 3, I think her anniversary album. She’s always supportive. She’s amazing.”
Davido praised Nicki Minaj for her unwavering support, emphasizing that their connection goes beyond music and that she remains one of the most supportive international artists he has worked with.
