Veteran Nollywood actor, Hanks Anuku, has openly shared details about his past marriage to his ex-wife from Asaba and the reasons behind its failure.
During a recent interview on Nollywood Hardcore, The Legend’s Untold Story, Hanks Anuku disclosed that his failed marriage to his Asaba ex-wife left him deeply traumatized and instilled a fear of Nigerian women in him.
He explained that the primary reason for the failure of his marriage was a lack of compatibility between him and his former wife. He admitted that their union was a mistake from the start and clarified that his ex-wife was not the mother of his children. However, he did have a stepdaughter from her previous relationship.
Hanks Anuku revealed that he has been divorced for over ten years and has not remarried since then. However, he does have another woman who has two children for him—a son and a daughter. Despite this, he made it clear that they are not married and are only friends. He emphasized that while he desires to be married, he wants to ensure that the marriage brings him true happiness.
Reflecting on his past relationships, he admitted that he thought he would have another opportunity to marry, but it never happened. He shared that the mother of his children is not the type of woman he envisions as his wife, which is why they remain friends despite having kids together. He stressed the importance of genuine love in marriage, stating that he does not want to settle for infatuation but rather seeks deep, unconditional love, which he referred to as Agape love.
The veteran actor also expressed his reservations about marrying a Nigerian woman again. He explained that his previous marriage experience had a significant psychological impact on him, and he never expected that he would have to go through a separation. This experience left him emotionally hurt, but he had no choice but to move on with his life.
Hanks Anuku revealed that during his time abroad, he found himself more compatible with Caucasian women. He admitted that he never dated any black women while overseas and that blonde women were always his preference. He stated that he would have considered marrying a Caucasian woman if he had stayed abroad, but now that he is back in Nigeria, he believes it might be too late for that. However, he mentioned that if he were to travel for a vacation and met the right person, he would be open to the possibility of marriage.
Speaking further about his failed marriage, he explained that his ex-wife from Asaba was someone he deeply loved and shared good moments with. However, he revealed that she was constantly making financial demands and even pressured him to quit his acting career due to jealousy over the presence of other women around him. He ultimately refused to give up acting, which further contributed to the breakdown of their marriage.
