Nollywood veteran actor, Hanks Anuku, has opened up about the challenges he faced in the Nigerian movie industry, shedding light on his struggles and relationships with some of his colleagues.
During a recent interview with fellow actor Emma Labista on the “Nollywood Hardcore” Podcast, Hanks Anuku revealed that the industry was not as glamorous as it appeared. He stated that many of his colleagues were involved in diabolical practices and displayed high levels of greed.
The renowned actor further disclosed that some of his colleagues were envious of his success, and in an attempt to tarnish his reputation, they resorted to blackmailing him. He emphasized how the industry was filled with jealousy and hidden agendas that made it difficult for him to thrive.
In a snippet from the interview, Hanks Anuku said:
“There was a bit of diabolism in the industry. Some people were diabolical, people were envious and jealous of my shine. I was blackmailed.”
Hanks Anuku is a prominent figure in Nollywood, widely recognized for playing villainous roles in movies. Throughout his career, he has starred in several blockbuster films, including Heartless Heart, Virgin’s Heart, The Captor, King of the Town, Last Kobo, and Stubborn Billionaires, among many others.
